Under Construction
In the Pedalers' 29 year history there have been lots of employees. We are trying to remember everyone, which is impossible! We will build pages about them as we get time. Feel free send us pics, stories, people's names (or just the last name) and where they are now.
Abel Martinez still works here part time and works as a foreman on construction crew in Richmond, Ca.
Nick Kelez works at Lawrence Lab in Berkeley and is probably still racing cat 1 in his last year on the bike, honest this is the last year. Nick married the beautiful Kim Applegate and has two kids (I think it's 2). Nick started here as a pudgy little teenager and worked his way up to a medal at Crit Nationals in 199?. Nick races for The Olympic Club in San Francisco. I tried to weasel a spot on the team but Nick has no love for me. IS IT BECAUSE I'M SO SLOW??
Jenny.... was pushed to the floor by Nick in the 1989 earthquake. It's a good thing Nick got out of there OK. Infact we all dashed out of the building that day and the parking lot looked like the bay on a windy day with sets of 3 foot waves and everything! Actually everyone got out but Jenny. It seemed like the earth was shaking for several minutes and when we were out in the parking lot watching the surf I noticed that Jenny was not with us. I went back inside (everything still shaking and the walls looked like they were made out of Jell-O) and there was Jenny in the mechanic's bay. I said, " Maybe we should go outside" and she said, "OK". We walked out and watched the last couple of ripples work their way through the parking lot. After it was all over I asked Jenny why she didn't come outside and she explained that she was standing in a doorway just like they taught her to do back in Minnesota! Jenny is a great artist and last I heard she was working at The Missing Link in Berkeley. She drew most or their print ads by hand.
Paul Brinkley Rogers "PBR" finished college and now works in healthcare as a software architect in Emeryville.
Armond Gauthier killed my Norfolk Island Pine. People tell me he beat me up Hillcrest racing Navigators but I don't believe a word of it. I must have been busy burning his Killdoser and Wesley Willis CDs when the starting gun fired.
Matt Ferarri lives in El Sob and has two kids. He was a stay at home dad for a while and we didn't talk to him much. Now he works at Ghirardelli Chocolate so we bug him all the time now!
Matt Fritzinger worked here several years and raced with us on Team Pedaler. We were required to hold at least one race a year and Matt got the idea to host a criterium in Albany. He held the first race around Albany High and there is still a race there every year. Matt is now is a teacher at Berkeley High and after several years off of race promotions started the Nor Cal High School Mountain Bike League. The League has over 30 High Schools and hundreds of kids and adults involved. They race all over Northern California and parts of Nevada. You can get involved and volunteer or just go out and watch some of the races. They race throughout the Spring and have a championship race usually in May. We are a sponsor bike shop and you can sponsor them too. For more information visit http://www.norcalmtb.org/
Dan Harney.... Help us out! I was told he moved to Washington and makes cabinets.

Todd Byrnes works at Caterpiller.
John Kelly became very fast pro bike races. He raced for Webcor Builders, John dons the cover of the 2005 Velo News racing calendar! You can come into the store and see pictures of me racing my bike in Winning magazine from a million years ago. Don't forget your magnefying glass!
Rod Kelley lives in Florida.
Cullen Wilkersen still works here part time and also works in the field as a scientist. Cullen raced for us for several years and now he our low post threat on our adult league basketball team. Don't pass Cullen the ball unless you want to see him "use" the other team.
Jason Van Horn loved to swing dance! He was a big bad daddy! He could jump on his bike like he is as fine as an eagle! He is also as graceful as an eagle. The favorite song of Jason Van Horn was the theme song to FRIENDS! It was a big hit! We all loved it! He always had beautiful women following him around! They all said: "Paint me in a portrait you flying eagle of a man!" Jason had so many talents, bike riding, bike jumping, oil painting, scetch art just to name a few. Jason lives in San Francisco and you can see him on his web site that he made himself (of course) www.ihatebikes.net . He even has a place on MYSPACE! Sorry, you can visit his MYSPACE but you can't be his friend unless you meet him in person. We are so happy that we already know Jason, now we can get our own MYSPACE, visit HISSPACE and become one of his many MYSPACE friends. We always knew we couldn't keep Jason and one day he spread his wings and flew away to another bike shop.
Arturo Marin "lento" works at that same stinky bike shop. Arturo lives in San Francisco and he hails from Jalisco Mexico. Arturo rides his bike everywhere. He rides so much that when you see him you wonder how he keeps that pansa grande! He tells us it's a baby elephant. Arturo rides only Campagnolo equipment and will not ride "chitmano" ever. I understand he prefers equipment that is made in Taiwan over equipment that is made in Sri Lanka. And with Campagnolo's excellent warranty why would he ride anything else? We understand Arturo celebrated a birthday recently, feliz cuarenta uno lento!
Noah Weissich now fabricates titanium beer openers and other fine ti products at Paragon Machine Works in Richmond, Ca. He lives upstairs!
Carl Gooding.. He's going the distance.
Scott Schreiber is in the Navy now.
Scott Nevin was in Hawaii on the big island last we heard. We miss seeing Lisa.

Nick Corbin "Your favorite Jew" can recite any rap line.
Jeromy Lynch has many piercings and now lives in Redding.
Chris Martin is a Fireman in Tracy.
Mike Jackson is a pro bike mechanic. He assembles bikes all over the Bay Area!
Luke Hudson moved back east. He was in the moving business!
Brian O'Branovich works for Columbia.
Earl Webster must still ride that cool Eddy Merckx.
Peter Louras went to college in Washington.
Amy Fitsgerald.... Wouldn't you like to know!
Ernst Wilhelm lives in the desert with a wife and 3 kids! Ernst is a valuable person to have as a friend. Ernst can look at the stars and tell you the winning lottery numbers and that can come in handy. I watched Ernst spend an entire season growing a watermelon in my backyard watering it every day and telling it how lovely it was. He would fast often and when he wasn't fasting his only intake would be dew off that watermelon. At the end of the season he harvested the watermelon and ate it. He offered me a taste but I just didn't have the heart, it was the size of a small grapefruit!
Chris Watson recalled every Cat Like helmet that was brought into the US. Now he sticks to the cats he has at home (somewhere in Texas). Chris coached US National Junior Development teams and had quite a sprint himself. His life sized poster of him racing a crit is still on full display in the men's bathroom! Charles at Orinda Spoke and Pedal called him a social climbing back stabbing SOB and we just called him Chrissie.
Kurt Sandiforth
Is an accomplished bicycle tourist, and does about 12,000 miles a year. He eat drinks and sleeps bicycles. An accomplished mechanic as well! Working in bike shops for close to 6 years all over the world! He has ridden his bike through: Mexico (to Oxaca,) Spain, Portugal, France, Belgium, Holland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Germany, Canada, through the Yukon to Alaska (where he was chased by a grizzly bear in full charge!). A few years ago he performed a back to back tour of Florida to Alaska / Alaska Florida. Kind of makes you feel inadequate doesn't it?
Steve Wansic sells expensive bikes to soccer moms!
Ed Livinsten (misspelled) owns that shop.
Miles Rank works there too.
